1-Mile Time Trial (7 min 21 sec)

We had our first "run" practice on Wednesday. Dr. Runco (part of the Running Insitute in San Diego) educated us all on running shoes - you'd be shocked to learn how little we all know about running shoes. I tend to run on the outside of my feet, and apparently my shoes actually are built to force my foot towards the outside - excatly what I don't need!
We did our first ab workout. Needless to say, mine could use some work.
We ended the practice with some jogging and a 1-mile time trial. The purpose was for us to run the fastest mile possible without losing our pace throughout the run. I came in at 7 min 21 sec. A mile is four laps around your typical track. The distance we run at the triathlon is twenty-five laps on the same track. That 7:21 will be entered into a database of previous triathlon times and I'm supposed to find my "ideal" lap speed. Thankfully, I've been told it will be slower than the pace that I ran in the time trial....which is a good thing because "out of breath" doesn't begin to describe me at the finish line.
Saturday is the first "bike" practice. So, where will I be Saturday? Graduating. This conflicting schedule thing can only be a sign of things to come. Ha!
